July 2020 – Medical assisting is a fast-growing and exciting career! 

You have interacted with Medical Assistants hundreds of times. They look like nurses, receptionists, and even doctors. Medical Assistants do almost everything at medical offices besides certain restricted activities left only for doctors and nurses.
So, what do Medical Assistants, a.k.a. MA’s, do?

Medical assistants do everything from scheduling appointments, taking vitals (recording blood pressure and temperature), making patients feel comfortable and cared for, and even giving certain injections with doctor approval. All in all, MA’s are one of the most important parts of our healthcare system. 

Each day, around half a million Medical Assistants provide important, lifesaving care across the country. They are so important that the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics projects a 23% increase in demand for Medical Assistants between 2018 and 2028. That means that Medical Assisting is one of the fastest growing and stable careers. 

MA’s earn between $12 and $22 an hour. The salary ranges between $22,000 and $50,000 per year with an average of $35,720. Medical Assistants who go above and beyond to care for their patients create return patients and typically earn more money. If you are empathetic and excited about helping people, a career as a Medical Assistant may be a great fit for you.
